CHP Cadets Volunteer at Sacramento Children’s Home

Nearly 60 California Highway Patrol cadets volunteered their time at the Sacramento Children’s Home on August 25.

The cadets arrived at the Children’s Home about 7 a.m. to begin service projects around the main campus, located at 2750 Sutterville Road. The larger group split into smaller task forces, which then painted cottages, restored desks for the Education Program, and built irrigation boxes to cover and protect water maintenance systems.

Afterward, the cadets played football, basketball, soccer, and more with the residential youth.

Finally, pizza arrived and the boys and cadets had an opportunity to not only enjoy the meal together, but to also talk about life, challenges, opportunities, and much more. But before heading out for the day around 2 p.m., the cadets squeezed in a little more play time before heading back to the CHP Academy.

Our boys enjoyed the experience and the day, and we hope the cadets equally enjoyed themselves. We’re grateful for their time and hard work around campus, and also hope they realize what a positive impact they had while here. Thank you, cadets, and good luck the rest of the way!
