The holidays are just around the corner and we could use your help to make the season bright for the children and families we serve! Help the Sacramento Children’s Home create special memories for our children and families.
We invite you to participate in our annual Holiday Giving Program supporting Sacramento’s most vulnerable children and families. Here are multiple generous ways you can get involved:
Make a Financial Donation
A bright future is the best gift a child can get! Your gift to the Sacramento Children’s Home helps to sustain programs that strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect. Click here to make a donation.
Adopt a Family
Every year SCH serves many local families in urgent need. Help us make their holiday wishes come true by “Adopting a Family.” Your support helps to provide household goods, gifts for the children, or other essential items to make their season bright! Complete this form to be matched with a family in need from one of our programs. We would appreciate requests by November 22nd, but will do our best to accommodate late requests. Wish Stars & Other Ornaments
Another great way to get involved this holiday season is to request Wish Stars and other ornaments, which help fulfill the holiday wishes of the youth we serve. Individuals or groups can participate by requesting individual ornaments or hosting a “Giving Tree”. This can be done either publicly with a listing on our website, or privately for your organization, friends, or family only. Complete this form and submit by October 29th to request the following ornaments, which will be mailed out beginning the week of November 6th:

- Wish Stars Ornaments to provide wishes for a specific child served by our programs
- Snow Trip Ornaments to provide winter recreation activities for the children in our Residential Program
- Gift Card Ornaments to purchase unfulfilled gifts or provide other holiday essentials for the families we serve
- Donation Ornaments to provide financial support for the most urgent needs of the children and families we serve

Sponsor a Holiday Celebration
Spread holiday cheer to many under-served families by donating funds to cover food, decorations, and more at a hosted holiday celebration organized by one of our community programs. This year we have a need for support to fund our three Family Resource Center’s holiday parties and Christmas morning breakfast for the youth in our Residential Program. Email Todd.Koolakian@kidshome.org if you are interested, and we will partner you with one of the SCH programs.
Information about Donation Deliveries & Receipt Requests
Deliver Adopt a Family Donations
For our Adopt a Family Participants, you will deliver all of your donations to the SCH Program Site where the family you were assigned is receiving services. The programs and their location addresses are as follows:
- Crisis Nursery North: 4533 Pasadena Avenue, Sacramento
- Crisis Nursery South: 6699 South Land Park Drive, Sacramento
- FRC Meadowview: 2251 Florin Road Suite 158, Sacramento
- FRC North Sac: 1565 River Park Drive, Sacramento
- FRC Valley Hi: 7000 Franklin Suite 820, Sacramento
- Donations for the Counseling Center, eVIBE, Tutoring, and Wraparound should be delivered to SCH at 2750 Sutterville Road, Sacramento.
Adopt a Family donations should be dropped off at the appropriate location (see above) during the following dates and times:
- Monday, December 9th – Friday, December 13 | 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Monday, December 16th | 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
The earlier the better within this timeframe! We get very busy on the final day, so earlier drop-offs are strongly encouraged.

Deliver Wish Star & Gift Card Donations
All Wish Star and Gift Card donation drop-offs are taking place behind the Sacramento Children’s Home | 2750 Sutterville Road | Sacramento, CA 95820 next to the Philanthropy Department Building. Signage will direct you to drive behind the SCH Main Building, take a left and drive through the back parking lot where SCH volunteers will accept your Wish Star, Gift Card, and cash donations in a drive-through setting. We will provide you with a card with instructions on how to request a receipt when you deliver your donations.
We ask that donors who are fulfilling Wish Star requests place unwrapped donations in one bag—a sturdy gift or shopping bag—and affix the Wish Star securely to the outside of the bag. It is important that you keep the gifts for each child together along with the matching star.
Drive-through drop-offs should be done during the following dates and times:
- Monday, December 9 – Friday, December 13 | 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Monday, December 16 | 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
Please note that the final deadline for drop off is Monday, December 16th at 4:00 pm. The earlier the better within this timeframe! We get very busy on the final day, so earlier drop-offs are strongly encouraged.
