Residential Services
The
ultimate goal for the Residential Program is… In home, in school, and
out of trouble. Translated to our work, a successful outcome is measured
by our ability to modify and stabilize behavior so that a child, at
point of discharge, moves to a family environment, is stabilized in
school, and does not get arrested. The residential program is a level
12 group home that has a licensed capacity of 74 and currently consists
of Cowell Center which serves children 6 to 11 and the cottage program
that serves children 11 to 18. Primarily, the population served is those
individuals that have been removed from home through the court process
due to severe neglect and abuse. The children have been out of home
for some time and have significant behavioral disruptive behaviors that
interfere in their ability to live in a home setting.
Wraparound Services
Wraparound (aka WRAP)
services, referred by the Sacramento County Child and Family ACCESS
Team, is also provided to teach social skills, appropriate use of free
time, and appropriate interactional skills. WRAP is targeted for children
in level 12 and 14 group homes that can benefit from intensive, strength-based
services focused on permanency. WRAP is a specialized service that includes
the whole family through the development of the Child and Family Team
(CFT). It is through the CFT that all decisions that impact the family
are made and supported by the participants. The goal of WRAP is to facilitate
the child transitioning to a lower level of care, with primary focus
on families.
